Your search for up-to-date and
interesting information on health and well being is over. The
Wellness Circle at the Peachland Wellness Centre is an exciting and
dynamic group of people that meet every Wednesday morning. Whether
you come to just listen, share or both, everyone is welcome and the
only requirement is your enthusiasm and an open mind.
Alice Mumm, the program leader
invites a wide variety of guest speakers to lead the morning
sessions. Last year the participants were enlightened on topics
ranging from the seven major chakras, remedies using herbs and
essential oils, energy healing on emotions through Reiki, to many
discussions on nutrition led by Lisa Kilgour, a local registered
holistic nutritionist. This years’ line up looks just as exciting.
So far we have been treated to an information session on Tai Chi, an
Oriental Healing Foods workshop and I spoke recently on my
experience at the Vancouver Peace Summit. I shared my thoughts and
reflections after attending a session with the Dalai Lama, Eckhart
Tolle and other spiritual leaders.
Alice starts each session with
an energizing warm up to some upbeat drum music to make sure the
group’s energy comes alive. She then hands the floor over to the
day’s guest speaker for their presentation. Everyone is welcome to
add their own thoughts and experience to the current topic and all
participants are assured that any personal information that they
choose to share is treated as confidential. This goes along way to
making sure everyone is comfortable sharing their own story.
By coming together to shares
different views and ideas, we bring a collective energy to this and
the larger community that would not exist if we all kept to
ourselves just going about our daily lives. I believe it is groups
such as this one that are happening all over the world that are part
of the global awakening that many spiritual teachers are talking
about. The Dalai Lama says “Without love we could not survive.
Human beings are social creatures, and a concern for each other is
the very basis of our life together”.
Perhaps the Wellness Circle is
not just a way of healing yourself, but a way to heal the world.
